The New Zealand women's hockey coach Mark Hager says consistency has been the key to their strong start at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The Black Sticks secured their semi-final spot last night by beating top seeds, England, 4-1, before defeating Canada 2-1.

Hager says the gold medal is within reach, if the team plays to their potential in every game.

He says that what has been particularly pleasing at Delhi has been the consistency of performance within games.
