Adams couldn't be happier with performance

The New Zealand shot putter Valerie Adams says she couldn't be happier with her gold medal-winning performance at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Adams claimed gold in style, breaking the Games record with her best throw of 20.47 metres, and beating her closest rival by well over a metre.

She says she couldn't have asked for a better competition to end the long season.

Adams says she was feeling tired, but kept focused on defending her title and breaking the Games record, and is very happy with her performance.

All six of Adams' attempts exceeded 20 metres.

She'll now take a deserved break and watch the remaining New Zealand athletes in action in Delhi, before contemplating next year's World Championships.
