Two late bogeys were costly for the New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson on the final day of the Dunhill Links championship in Scotland.

On a wild final day on the Old Course at St Andrews, Wilkinson's mistakes at the 15th and 17th holes dropped him from 11th equal to 21st place.

The German star Martin Kaymer won the title by three strokes, completing a remarkable hat-trick of European Tour victories.

Lee Westwood missed the chance to replace Tiger Woods as world number one. He needed a top-two finish to end the Woods reign which now stretches to 279 consecutive weeks, struggled to a 73 and finished tied 11th.
