The President of the Commonwealth Games Federation, Mike Fennell, has confirmed the winner of the women's 100 metres, Nigerian Oludamola Osayemi has tested positive to the banned stimulant methylhexaneamine.

Osayemi was awarded the 100m gold medal after Sally Pearson of Australia - who had originally finished first - was disqualified for false starting.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria is blaming the positive test result on prescription medication given to Oludamola for a toothache.

The federation says Nigeria will mount a strong case against stripping Osayemi of the gold medal.
