Willis happy with first up run

Defending men's 1500m champion Nick Willis was happy with his first outing at the Delhi Commonwealth Games.

Willis, the Olympic silver medallist, did just enough to get through to the final, finishing 4th in his heat in a time of 3.42.47 to gain one of the automatic qualifying spots.

Willis, who has had limited racing in recent months after recovering from knee surgery, says he didn't want a fast heat today.

He says having only arrived in Delhi a couple of days ago, he just wanted to get into the meet, didn't want to get too excited and he had fun.

Willis says he'll be giving it everything in tonight's final.

In the other heat, fellow New Zealander Adrian Blincoe had to contend with a hotter pace... finishing 5th but his time of 3.41.54 got him through.
