11:57 am on 13 October 2010

Medals are assured for a number of New Zealand athletes, but what colour will be decided tonight on the penultimate day of competition at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

New Zealand is 11th on the table with 28 medals, including three gold, and at least another three golds are being sought tonight.

The New Zealand women's hockey team will play Australia for gold.

The Australians are experienced campaigners who regularly play in finals - they're ranked higher than the Black Sticks and beat them 4-1 in their last encounter at the World Cup last month.

New Zealand has won squash medals at every games since it was introduced in 1998 and there are two combinations going into gold medal matches tonight.

Joelle King and Jacklyn Hawkes are in the womens doubles final, and King and Martin Knight are in the mixed doubles final - both have a good chance of victory.

The cycling team can add to its haul of 10 medals so far with representation in the men's and women's road time trials.

Lawn bowlers Ali Forsyth and Val Smith are into the knockout stage of the singles and shooters Mike Collings and John Snowden remain in medal contention.
