New Zealand claims second silver in road cycling

The New Zealand cyclist Linda Villumsen admits she's a bit disappointed not to have won the gold medal in the women's road time trial at the Commonwealth Games.

Denmark-born Villumsen, who gained New Zealand citizenship in December, finished second, just five seconds slower than Canadian Tara Whitten.

The 25-year-old says silver is good but she really wanted to win this one.

Villumsen finished third in the time trial at the World Championships in Geelong last month, and continued her strong form in Delhi.

Villumsen finished the course in a time of 39:04.15 minutes, just under five seconds behind the gold medalist, Tara Whitten of Canada.

New Zealand's Melissa Holt finished fifth in 39:22.96 minutes, while Alison Shanks, who won gold in the individual pursuit at the velodrome, finished tenth in a little more than 40 minutes.
