Three top canoe coaches made redundant

Canoe Racing New Zealand board has decided not to renew the contracts of the national coaches Ian Ferguson, Paul MacDonald and Andras Szabo.

Ferguson and MacDonald, along with board member Alan Thompson, have been at odds with the sport's chief executive Paula Kearns, the higher performance manager Wayne Maher, and Sport and Recreation New Zealand.

Szabo has supported his fellow coaches on the matter.

The disagreement between the two sides lead to a review of the sport, which the board has just recently signed off on.

Ferguson says he has been given no explanation for the decision.
