Ponting says he's still the best man for the captaincy

Australia's cricket captain Ricky Ponting says he still believes he's the man for the job, despite his team's worst Test match losing streak in 22 years.

After losing their Test series against India 2-0, Ponting says he has no doubt that he should still be leading the Australian side.

He says he's trying to do his best as captain and to help some of the other players through some difficult times.

He says if the other Australia players can learn something from the trip to India, then it should hold his team in good stead for the summer.

Australia are currently ranked fifth in the International Test rankings, close behind England, who they come up against in Australia next month in the five-match Ashes series.

England are defending the trophy.
