Russia sign six-year F1 deal

Russia has signed a deal to host its first Formula One Grand Prix from 2014 in the city of Sochi, the same year the Black Sea resort hosts the Winter Olympics.

According to an agreement signed by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone in the presence of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Sochi will host the Grand Prix for seven years, from 2014-20.

Russia's Vitaly Petrov became the country's first Formula One driver when he joined Renault this year, and the sport has a big folllowing in Russia.

Prime Minister Putin is also lobbing hard for Russia to host the football World Cup.
