The United States has withdrawn their bid to host the 2018 football World Cup and will focus entirely on their bid for the 2022 tournament.
Sunil Gulati, Chairman of the USA Bid Committee and President of U.S. Soccer says for some time the US have been in conversations with FIFA and UEFA about the possibility of focusing only on the 2022 bidding process.
He says US Soccer are confident withdrawing their 2018 bid is in the best interests of the USA securing a world cup tournament in the near future.
