Swarms of bees delays Currie Cup semi-final

A swarm of bees delayed the start of the Currie Cup rugby semi-final between the Natal Sharks and the Blue Bulls at Kings Park in Durban on Saturday.

Referee Marius Jonker, who is allergic to bees, noticed the swarms which had congregated around the plastic posts on the halfway line shortly before kickoff.

The players left the field and the game eventually started 40 minutes late as officials failed with a variety of different methods, including leaf blowers and fire extinguishers, to removes the bees until the posts were covered with plastic bags and taken away.
