The Commonwealth Games backstroker Melissa Ingram grabbed victory on her return home at the FINA World Cup meet in Singapore last night.

Ingram, who finished out of the medals in the 200m in Delhi, won the final of the women's 200m backstroke in the short course meet that attracted a number of the world's stars to the Singapore Sports School complex.

After cruising to qualify third fastest, Ingram dominated the final from the gun to win in 2:03.99 from American Julia Smit and Germany Jenny Menshing.

She broke her own national short course record in the process, the time established at the Berlin World Cup two years ago.

Ingram swims in the finals of the 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle on the final night of the meet later Sunday evening.
