Gats re-signs for Wales

The New Zealander who coaches the Wales rugby team has agreed to continue in the role until the 2015 World Cup.

Warren Gatland's contract extension ends speculation that he'll return home to take up a Super 15 coaching role next year.

And the former Waikato coach has also criticised a ruling by the English Premiership clubs to not release players until the last possible minute before next year's World Cup here, saying it could mean Welsh players miss out on the showpiece event.

Gatland told ESPN's rugby website that it's "completely ridiculous" that players won't be released until August the 4th when the season ends in May.

Wales' first warm-up game against England is on August 6th.
