Chelsea claim Champs League win in Moscow

9:36 am on 20 October 2010

The English football champions Chelsea have maintained their 100 per cent record in this season's Champions' League with a 2-0 win over Spartak Moscow.

Yury Zhirkov used to play for crosstown rivals CSKA Moscow and he happily buried Chelsea's opener in the 24th minute, silencing the crowd of 75,000 Spartak supporters with his first goal for the club, a long distance screamer.

Fellow Blues marksman Nicolas Anelka scored the decisive second for Chelsea just before half-time, sending the ball inside the righthand post with a low shot.

In the day's other big game, Arsenal beat Ukrainians Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 in London, after leading 2-0 at half-time.
