The dual international Lote Tuqiri will become the first code-crosser to play Test rugby league for Australia a second time, after returning from rugby union.
Tuqiri has been named in the Kangaroos side for the first time in eight years after being chosen in Australia's Four Nations team to play Papua New Guinea in Sydney, on Sunday.
Tuqiri, along with Brent Tate, Willie Tonga, Nate Myles and Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, is one of five new faces in Sheens' team following his most recent Test in charge, the 12-8 win over New Zealand in May.
Rugby League historian Bernie Wood says no New Zealand rugby league player has achieved the feat although 90 years ago All Blacks Ned Hughes did go from rugby union to league and back to union.
Hughes played for the All Blacks in 1907, the Kiwis in 1910 and the All Blacks in 1921, when he was 40 years and 123 days old, becoming the olderst person to play a test for the All Blacks. That record still stands.
Sonny Bill Williams is the first player to be a Kiwi then an All Black, although current All Blacks lock Brad Thorn did play for the Australian rugby league side then the All Blacks before returning to league, where he played at State of Orign level for Queensland, before coming back to union.
