The former Kiwi's coach Brian McClennan has resigned as the Leed's Rhinos UK Super League coach after two years in charge.

The 48-year-old New Zealander stepped down after a trophy-less season at Headingley and will be replaced by Brian McDermott.

McClennan had signed a new one-year contract in May but suffered disappointment this year after finishing without any silverware.

The New Zealander says he decided to leave a year ahead of schedule to allow McDermott to take over as quickly as possible under a long-standing agreement.

McClennan guided Leeds to consecutive titles in his first two seasons before reaching the final of the Challenge Cup this season where they were beaten by Warrington.
