NZ makes solid start to Eisenhower

The New Zealand golf team is in eighth place after the opening round of the Eisenhower Trophy World Amateur Men's Team Championship in Argentina.

New Zealand fired an even par 142 for their two best counting scores, playing on the more demanding, par 71 Olivos course today.

Masterton's Ben Campbell led the way with a two-under 69, Auckland's Ryan Fox was the other counter with a two-over 73 while Wellington's Peter Spearman-Burn had the non-counting five-over 76.

France leads at seven under par.

69 nations are taking part.
