Stephen Donald's place in the All Blacks is again being questioned after his role in New Zealand's 26-24 loss to Australia in Hong Kong on Saturday night.
Ex-All Blacks including Richard Loe and Sean Fitzpatrick have been scathing of the recalled Donald after he replaced Daniel Carter at first-five-eighths with 20 minutes remaining, when the All Blacks had come back to lead 24-12.
Donald then missed a penalty which would have sealed victory and also failed to clear the ball into touch to possibly end the game, as the Wallabies laid siege to the New Zealand line.
But Carter doubts it matters whether Donald kicked the ball out or not.
Carter notes there was a minute remaining and the Wallabies could've still taken a lineout, and holding onto the ball for a few more phases to see out the game would have been the better option.
