Phoenix captain unable to hide disappointment

The Wellington Phoenix captain Andrew Durante has lashed out at his defensive unit after the club's record 24-game unbeaten streak at Westpac Stadium was brought crashing to a halt losing 4-1 to the Brisbane Roar on Wednesday night.

The Phoenix conceded an early goal but clawed their way back into the match through a Tim Brown equaliser before the Roar scored on the stroke of half-time and sealed the win with two second half strikes.

Durante says he and his fellow defenders should shoulder most of the blame for the loss and the captain was unable to hide his frustration after the match.

He says they took pride in their defence last year but they're shipping far too many goals this year.

Durante says he doesn't know why, it's very un-Phoenix-like and to lose like that is not what the club's about.
