Murray beaten in Valencia

The British tennis player Andy Murray's hopes of defending his Valencia Open title came unstuck in the second round when he lost in three sets to Argentine Juan Monaco.

Murray, the top seed and world number four, slumped to defeat against a player he beat in the semi-finals in Shanghai two weeks ago.

Murray went on to beat Roger Federer in the final of the Shanghai Masters and returned to action in Valencia with Wednesday's first round win over Feliciano Lopez.

The Briton has already qualified for the season-ending ATP finals in London this month along with Rafael Nadal, Federer, Novak Djokovic and Robin Soderling.
