Two golds but Drysdale has to settle for silver

The gold medal winning men's pair of Hamish Bond and Eric Murray say they've never had to work so hard to win a race as they did at the World Rowing Championships on Lake Karapiro on Saturday afternoon.

Bond and Murray won gold medals, along with the women's pair of Rebecca Scown and Juliette Haigh, while defending single scull world champion Mahe Drysdale had to settle for silver.

Emma Twigg won bronze in the women's single scull.

Bond says winning at home makes it all the more special and says the support of the crowd helped them edge out the Great Britain crew by just 0.3 of a second.

He says the British crew has never previously been able to stick with them through the middle of the race and the New Zealand pair have usually been able to outsprint them.
