The New Zealand Breakers have beaten the Gold Coast Blaze 96 - 81 in Australia, in doing so setting a new club record of four wins to start an ANBL season.
In another performance that saw contributions throughout the roster, it was Gary Wilkinson who led the way with a superb 23 points and 7 rebounds.
He had good support through Tom Abercrombie (15pts, 8 rebounds), Kevin Braswell (14pts) and the returning Kirk Penney (13pts) all in double figures while Corey Webster shot a vital 9 points in a perfect display from the floor with his only miss being from the free throw line.
After a slow start saw the Breakers trail 20 - 27 at the first quarter break, the Breakers took a lead they would never relinquish when Tom Abercrombie and Gary Wilkinson combined for a 12 point run to start the second quarter, giving the Breakers their first lead of the game and vital momentum.
The victory confirms the club's best ever start to a championship season and they continue to be the only team unbeaten at this early stage of the competition.
Next up is a double header road trip against Adelaide and Perth before returning home on Friday 19th November against the Hawks.
Also last night Adelaide defeated Sydney 87 - 75 in Adelaide and Cairns Taipans were too good for championship favourites Perth, winning in Cairns.
