Manchester derby has extra edge

6:40 pm on 9 November 2010

Sir Alex Ferguson says the fact that Manchester City are now genuine title contenders has given Thursday morning's Manchester derby an extra edge.

United, the only unbeaten team in the premier league, are currently three points in front of City who last won a significant trophy more than 30 years ago.

But the big-spending Middle-Eastern owned City are in position to challenge for the title this season, and Ferguson expects the cash to continue to be splashed about on new players until they have at last won something.
