Roger Federer has continued his hot streak, claiming a place in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters, where the final lineup for the season-ending championships has been settled.

The Swiss top seed is bidding for a third consecutive trophy after winning in Stockholm and Basel and will play Juergen Meltzer for a semi-final place..

Federer dispatched Radek Stepanek 6-4 6-3, his 10th win in 12 matches against the Czech while Andy Murray took more than two hours to beat the Croatian 13th seed Marin Cilic.

Earlier, the last three places for the World Tour Finals were decided when Gael Monfils beat Fernando Verdasco to end the Spaniard's hopes of making the eight-man roster in London.

The Frenchman's win means the Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer and Andy Roddick will join Federer, Murray, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Robin Soderling next week.
