Ferrari's Fernando Alonso vented his frustration at the Russian rookie driver Vitaly Petrov after blowing the chance of a third world title at this morning's season-ending Abu Dhabi grand prix.

Alonso couldn't get past Petrov in the final stages of the race, but it was a strategic error that cost him the title.

The Spaniard was running fourth when he followed Mark Webber into the pits for fresh tyres at the end of lap 15, and when they rejoined the race both title contenders were held up by several drivers including Petrov on a track which made passing difficult.

Alonso, who'd started the final race 15 points clear in the championship race, finished seventh, and ended up four points behind Red Bull's German driver Sebastian Vettel who led all the way to become formula one's youngest champion at 23 years and 106 days old.
