FIFA hearing into vote-selling allegations underway

FIFA has begun a three-day investigation into corruption allegations which have cast a shadow over the contest for the right to stage the 2018 and 2022 World Cup finals.

The inquiry centres around FIFA executive committee members Amos Adamu of Nigeria and Reynald Temarii of Tahiti, who have been provisionally suspended pending the outcome of the hearing into newspaper allegations that they offered to sell their votes.

FIFA's ethics committee is also probing allegations of collusion between bidding nations, which would be against the rules.

The committee is expected to reach its decision by tomorrow might, and the verdict is expected to be announced on Friday.
