The British cycling superstar Mark Cavendish will ride for the HTC-Highroad team in South Australia's Tour Down Under.

It'll be the first time Isle of Man rider, who's widely regarded as the world's best sprinter, has ridden in the tour, where he'll go head-to-head with a former teammate and sprint rival Andre Greipel.

The German is a two-time winner of the pro tour's opening event, which starts in Adelaide on January 16.

The Americans Lance Armstrong and Tyler Farrar are also competing.

Cavendish has won 15 stages of the Tour de France, five in the Giro d'Italia, and four stages and the overall points jersey in this year's Spanish tour.
