Tigers claim first win of ANBL season

A massive second half comeback from the Gold Coast Blaze wasn't enough to stop the Melbourne Tigers basketball team from registering their first ANBL win of the season, snapping a six-game losing streak with a nail-biting 85-82 win on the Gold Coast.

It was the third consecutive loss for the injury-plagued Blaze who could not give new imports Ira Clark and Darryl Hudson a win on their home debut, despite the best efforts of co-captain Adam Gibson (20 points) and the ever-present Mark Worthington (17).

For the visitors, Corey Homicide Williams was the star with 19 points in his second match since signing with the Tigers, along with strong showings from Daryl Corletto and Tom Greer with 13 each.

Meanwhile, the Townsville Crocodiles escaped with a 77-73 win over the Adelaide 36ers after losing a double-digit lead at the Townsville Entertainment Centre.
