Brown secures place in Europe next year despite faltering finish in Hong Kong

The Wellington golfer Mark Brown had a disappointing final day at the Hong Kong Open, but he's virtually secured his full playing rights on next year's European Tour.

The first round leader's form deserted him as he dropped 10 places on the final day with a one-over par 71 to finish in a tie for 16th, 9 strokes behind the English star Ian Poulter.

Brown hasn't qualified for the multi-million dollar, season-ending Dubai World championship this week, but with earnings of 450-thousand dollars, he's 102nd on the money list, and will almost certainly retain full playing rights on next year's European Tour.
