The world men's tennis number one Rafael Nadal says he's healthy heading into his opening match at the season-ending ATP finals in London tonight.

The top eight tournament started today with Roger Federer beating David Ferrer and Andy Murray beating Robin Soderling.

It has been another remarkable year for Nadal who won the French, Wimbledon and US Open crowns to complete a career Grand Slam.

He missed last week's Paris Masters but says that was just precautionary.

Nadal plays Andy Roddick first up in his group, while Novak Djokovic plays Thomas Berdych.

Meanwhile the ATP has decided to extend the end-of-season break for the players from 4 to 7 weeks.
