India bat themselves into series winning situation

6:03 am on 23 November 2010

The New Zealand cricketers will be hard pressed to save the third and deciding test against India after the home team ended up dominating day three in Nagpur.

The Black Caps bowlers made a promising start to the day picking up three wickets for only 36 runs, including Sachin Tendulkar, but Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni grabbed the initiative in a 6th wicket partnership of 193 runs, and India eventually declared on 566 for 8, a lead of 373 runs.

Dravid's 31st test hundred almost became a double century, he was caught in the deep for 191, and Dhoni made 98.

India picked up the wicket of Tim McIntosh in the final session, and at 24 for 1 New Zealand's first target is the 349 runs they need to avoid an innings loss.
