Iain O'Brien still chasing a county contract

7:10 pm on 23 November 2010

The former New Zealand pace bowler Iain O'Brien says while he wouldn't rule out a return to the Black Caps he's still hoping for another county contract .

After retiring and moving to England at the end of last season O'Brien's been bowling to Wellington players in the nets as he completes rehabilitation from a hamstring injury

His three year contract with Middlesex was cut short when the England and Wales Cricket Board refused his request to be to re-classified as a domestic player because his wife's English.

O'Brien says he may play for Wellington again but the Black Caps' next series is against Pakistan in January and although he told coach Mark Greatbatch he'd "never say never" he's going back to England in the new year to rejoin his wife.

He says it won't be easy as an overseas player because many counties have wage freezes but otherwise he's happy with life in England..
