Clarke in, Bolly out for Ashes

Vice-captain Michael Clarke has been cleared to play but the Australian cricketer's best performed pace bowler of the past 12 months, Doug Bollinger, will be missing when the Ashes series starts tomorrow in Brisbane.

The Australian skipper Ricky Ponting confirmed Clarke would definitely line up against England at the Gabba after shrugging off lingering back injury concerns in a confident net session today.

The left armer Bollinger was released from the 13-man squad as the selectors opted for Peter Siddle.

Ponting is a huge fan of Siddle's no-holds-barred seam bowling but he hasn't played Test cricket since January due to a stress fracture in his back.
