Ifill back in goal scoring mode as Phoenix flatline Heart

Striker Paul Ifill rediscovered his mojo last night as the Wellington Phoenix football club returned to the A-League winner's circle with a 2-nil win home win over the Melbourne Heart.

The Phoenix overturned a run of four losses in their past five matches, with Ifill scoring both goals in the second half to seal the three points and lift the Wellingtonians to sixth equal on the A-league table.

The Phoenix leading goal scorer last year, Ifill has struggled to find the net this season and the Barbados international was happy to repay the faith shown in him by coach Ricki Herbert.

The Phoenix next face the Melbourne Victory in Wellington on Saturday night.

Meanwhile in other A-league action the Brisbane Roar extended their lead at the top of the table to six points beating the Perth Glory 3-2 at Suncorp stadium, while the Central Coast Mariners were held to a 1-all draw at home by the Newcastle Jets.
