India cruise to 2-nil lead over Black Caps

6:31 am on 2 December 2010

The New Zealand cricketers are 2-nil down in their one day international series in India after being well beaten in Jaipur.

The Black Caps managed a respectable 258 for 8, led by 70 from opener Martin Guptill, 59 for Scott Styris and 31 from Daniel Vettori.

But India were always well in control of the run chase, and with an unbeaten 138 off 116 balls from their opening batsman and captain for the day Gautam Gambhir, they achieved their target with seven overs to spare, and only two wickets down.

The Black Caps keeper batsman Brendon McCullum didn't play because of a back injury.

Game three in the 5-match series is in Vadodara, formerly known as Baroda, on Saturday.
