New Zealand has finished fourth at the Women's World Team Squash Championships in Palmerston North.

The fifth seeded New Zealanders lost the third place playoff 2-1 to fourth seed Malaysia.

Shelley Kitchen ended her career with yet another win, beating Sharon Wee 3-0. The 31-year-old won all five of her matches at the event, but is now retiring after having her first baby in February.

Kitchen's win was soon nullified by world number one Nicol David, who again proved too good for Jaclyn Hawkes, winning 3-0.

That left Low Wee Wern and Joelle King to decide the tie. The two players met in pool play three days ago with King winning 3-1, however, the Malaysian turned the tables to snatch third place for her country with an 3-1 victory.

Australia beat England in the final.
