Barca thought Osasuna game postponed due to strike

Even confusion over a transport strike and a mad dash to make a match they thought had been postponed wasn't enough to stop the champions Barcelona from winning again to stay top of the Spanish football standings.

Barcelona still ran out 3-0 winners after only arriving at the Reyno de Navarra ground of Osasuna just before kickoff, making a late dash by train and bus - a 350-kilometre journey - to play the La Liga match.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola was furious with the Spanish football federation for the confusion after a strike by Spanish air traffic controllers dashed their plans to fly direct to Pamplona on the morning of the game.

Barca put out a statement early in the afternoon to say they had an agreement to postpone the match, but this was soon contradicted by the federation and Osasuna, who insisted the match went ahead as scheduled.

Barca arrived just before the start time of seven o'clock, and after a 50-minute delay they went on to win thanks to two goals from Lionel Messi.
