Campbell emerges from golf wilderness

8:33 am on 7 December 2010

The former US Open champion Michael Campbell has credited Australian coach Gary Edwin for dramatically reviving his flagging golf career.

Campbell finally emerged from a two year career slump with a solid 12th place finish at the Australian Open at the weekend.

The result marked the first time in more than two years that Campbell had made successive halfway cuts, and him beleiving anything's possible ahead of this week's Australian PGA Championship at Coolum.

The 2005 major winner and European Tour player of the year met Edwin on the Victoria Club's practice range and believes he's turned a corner.

He's now slipped to 805th in the world rankings and admits at times he wondered whether he should continue in the sport but says he's finally found some keys to his swing and that had led to some self confidence.
