Whitewash not a fait accompli says Vettori

6:19 am on 9 December 2010

The New Zealand cricket captain Dan Vettori's refusing to accept another one day series whitewash is inevitable, despite the side losing its tenth match on the trot.

The Black Caps trail India four nil in the five game series after losing the latest match by five wickets in Bangalore this morning, despite posting a competitve total of 315 with James Franklin making 98 not out off just 69 balls.

New Zealand went into this latest one day series having succumbed four nil to Bangladesh and badly needing to show they can be competitive on the sub continent with the world cup to be held there in February.

But Vettori says he was impressed with the batting effort and a repeat performance in Chennai on Friday will hopefully bring about a different result.
