The left arm spinner Michael Beer is the shock selection for the third Ashes cricket test in Perth with Australian selectors dropping Marcus North, Doug Bollinger and Xavier Doherty after England's innings win in Adelaide.
The West Australian Beer the allrounder Steve Smith and another New South Welshman Phil Hughes have been named in a 12 man squad.
Hughes replaces the injured batsman Simon Katich and Hughes the out of form batsman Marcus North.
Pace bowlers Mitchell Johnson and Ben Hilfenhaus, who both missed selection in in Adelaide, have also been included.
Selection panel chairman Andrew Hilditch says Beer's knowledge of the WACA Ground secured his inclusion.
However he's taken just 16 first class wickets at an average of just under 40 since making his state debut two months ago.
