Vettori lays blame squarely on old heads

The New Zealand cricket captain Daniel Vettori concedes his multi-role position within the team must come under review and says the blame for the Black Caps' humiliating 5-0 one-day series loss to India must be laid squarely on the shoulders of the senior players.

The Black Caps have lost their last 11 one-dayers in a row and with the World Cup on the sub-continent in just over two months they're racing against time to find the right formula to arrest their horror run of form.

That formula is likely to mean Vettori is relieved of his role as selector ahead of Pakistan's tour here which begins at the end of the month, and the captain says he and the senior players must accept the brunt of the backlash.

Vettori says he won't take part in the domestic Twenty20 competition in an attempt to rid himself of several niggling injuries before the first T20 match against Pakistan in Auckland on Boxing Day.
