Australian cricket's new spin bowler Michael Beer has met all his teammates and had his first net session having arrived in Perth for the third Ashes Test against England starting on Thursday.

26-year-old Beer was meeting most of the team for the first time, having played only five first class games before being called up to replace Xavier Doherty, who played in the opening two tests.

Leftarmer Beer, who moved to Western Australia last summer after failing to make the Victorian side, will become Australia's 10th Test spinner since the retirement of Shane Warne.

England lead the series 1-0 and can retain the Ashes with a victory in Perth.
