Paston gone for season for sure

The Wellington Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert's estimating his No.1 goalkeeper Mark Paston will be out for six months after a scan revealed a fracture in the 33-year-old's knee.

Paston suffered the injury early in Saturday night's loss at Gold Coast and is set for a long stint on the sidelines after seeing a specialist.

Herbert says Paston will probably be out until the middle part of pre-season next year, but the Phoenix won't be signing a short-term replacement with Australian Danny Vukovic an excellent understudy and junior keeper Reece Crowther now the second custodian in line.
