The German football legend Franz Beckenbauer says he's lost some confidence in the sport's governing body after the votes for Russia and Qatar as hosts of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

Beckenbauer, a member of FIFA's executive comnmittee, says he has less confidence in FIFA after their handling of things after the voting, and he felt the losers were all left in disgrace, especially England and Australia.

He said executive members were told they would not be privy to details of the voting, so hearing all the details on the radio a couple of hours later left a bad taste in his mouth.

Beckenbauer is set to stand down from the executive committee next March.
