England spinner Swann has mental hold over Australians

Spinner Graeme Graeme Swann has a mental hold over Australia and will do most of the damage for England in the third Ashes cricket test starting in Perth tomorrow, says former England coach Duncan Fletcher.

Despite plenty of green grass, the Perth pitch has offered enough assistance for slow bowlers to have encouraged the Australian selectors to include West Australian left-arm spinner Michael Beer and Fletcher believes the surface will also suit off spinner Swann.

Fletcher wrote in the Guardian newspaper that he believes Swann will win England the test and the while the WACA pitch used to be a slow bowlers graveyard that has changed in recent years offering spinner some turn but more importantly bounce.

In terms of pace, Fletcher favours the selection of Tim Bresnan over Chris Tremlett saying if England want a player who can reproduce the economical bowling that the injured Stuart Broad was doing for the team then Tim Bresnan is a better pick.
