Sonny Bill will still get paid if he's injured in ring

The New Zealand Rugby Union says Sonny Bill Williams will still get paid even if he gets injured in the ring during the two scheduled boxing fights he has before next year's World Cup here.

The rugby union's general manager of professional rugby, Neil Sorensen, says part of Williams NZRU contract is that he's allowed to box and was a factor in him deciding to play here rather than re-signing with French club Toulon.

And Sorensen says if Williams gets hurt, he'll still receive his NZRU paycheque.

Williams first bout is against Australian Scott Lewis at the end of January.
