Another gold race for NZ riders

New Zealand will be chasing a further gold medal on the final day of the track cycling World Cup with the men's team pursuit fastest in qualifying.

The quartet of Sam Bewley, Wes Gough, Marc Ryan and Jesse Sergent will take on the host nation Colombia in the final.

Both BikeNZ sprinters are through in the fastest 16 in morning qualifying for the men's sprint with Sam Webster eighth fastest and Eddie Dawkins 13th fastest.

Back here, Hawkes Bay's Jeremy Yates and partner Serena Sheridan are the king and queen of New Zealand cycling after both defended their National Point Series titles in the Wairarapa.

Yates won the final event of the series, the demanding 118-kilometre Rice Mountain Classic to overtake Auckland's Gordon McCauley to win the men's series.

Sheridan was third, which was just enough to hold out US National Series champion Cath Cheatley for the overall series honours.
