Leeds second after win over Championship leaders QPR

Leeds United seized the momentum in the Championship football promotion race, moving into second place with a 2-0 win over leaders QPR at Elland Road.

Now unbeaten in nine matches, Leeds look a good bet to return to the Premier League just a year after winning promotion as League One runners-up.

The Yorkshire club last played in the top flight in 2004 but are now one point ahead of third-placed Cardiff, whose match against Burnley was postponed due to snow, and just three points behind QPR.

Swansea would have gone second if they'd beaten Sheffield United but they crashed to a 1-0 defeat at Bramall Lane.

Hull beat Bristol City 2-0 at the KC Stadium and Ipswich beat Leicester 3-0.

Norwich are fifth after Grant Holt's double clinched a 2-1 victory over 10-man Coventry at the Ricoh Arena.

Reading defeated Derby 2-1 at Pride Park to secure a first win in seven league matches.

Nottingham Forest extended their fine home run with a 3-0 victory over struggling Crystal Palace at the City Ground.

Millwall's game against Barnsley, Portsmouth's clash with Scunthorpe and Watford's fixture against Preston all fell victim to the freezing weather.
