Manchester City's fans are having to face the horror of their bitter crosstown rivals United staying top of the English Premier League football table at Christmas, after visitors Everton won 2-1 at the City of Manchester Stadium.
City had a shot at top spot at Christmas for the first time since 1929, but goals from Tim Cahill and Leighton Baines put Everton 2-0 up at half-time before City pegged a goal back with 20 minutes remaining through a deflected own goal off Everton's Phil Jagielka.
And though the hosts bossed the second half, it wasn't enough - they'll stay third, level with Arsenal and two points behind United. Everton move up to 14th.
Both sides finished with 10 men, Everton's Victor Anichebe earning a second yellow card after half-time and Kolo Toure sent off for his second yellow late in the game.
City's first loss in eight games is also Everton's first win in eight, and just their second away win of the season.
The match went ahead despite the continuing freeze throughout most of Britain that saw all but three Premier League fixtures called off.
